Semper Tek is honored to welcome Colonel Langdon “Roto” Root, Retired, as our first-ever Department of Defense (DoD) Liaison!  His new role focuses his experience and skills toward business development, legislative affairs, and military talent acquisition.

Langdon served honorably and with distinction for 26 years in the active-duty Air Force, executing operations in defense of the U.S. Constitution, in support of 5 Presidents and their National Security Strategies, and in faithful service to the American people.

Originally from Vincennes, Indiana, Langdon joined the Air Force as an officer in 1999 before graduating from Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training (ENJJPT) in Wichita Falls, TX, earning an F-16 and starting his career as a United State Air Force fighter pilot.  He was a mission-ready 4-Ship Flight Lead with more than 300+ combat hours flown in the skies over Iraq and Afghanistan during the Global War on Terrorism and in Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, Resolute Support, and Noble Eagle.

In addition, Langdon served 10 years as an Air Force Special Warfare leader, Air Liaison Officer, and Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) in the Tactical Air Control Party (TACP).  During this time, he commanded 258 Airmen, providing detailed airpower integration to 12,000 Soldiers from the First Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, served as a Director of Operations at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California, and a Director of Operations at Fort Riley, Kansas, in support of the 1st Infantry Division.

Furthermore, Langdon served as a professional staff officer in the Pentagon for 6 years, leading Emergent Global Force Management for the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and serving as both the Air Force Chief of Staff’s Deputy Director in the Air Force Special Warfare Directorate and as the Combat Air Forces Division Chief.  He has a bachelor’s degree in aviation technology from Indiana State University, a master’s in military history from Norwich University, and a master’s in National Security Strategy from the National War College in Washington, D.C.

Langdon’s professional experiences are diverse and display efficacy in multiple roles and leadership positions.  Career highlights include commanding and leading organizations from 28 to 2,800 people, flying the mission that earned the Air Force’s 2003 Koren Kolligian annual safety award, leading the Air Force’s Aircrew Crisis Task Force and helping plan and execute airpower support for the retrograde of US Forces out of Afghanistan.

More importantly than his career of service to nation, Langdon is blessed with a beautiful family.  Together with his lovely wife, Ryndee, they have four children. Their eldest, Chaustin, is recently married to Lauren and works in Bloomington, IN, as a Program Manager for a pharmaceutical company.  Kylynn is their only daughter and is attending Indiana Wesleyan University pursuing psychology with a pre-med focus.  Wyatt is a Senior in high school and passionate about soccer while Dax is in 4th grade and hasn’t met a sport he doesn’t like yet.

We are excited to have Langdon on the team and look forward to leveraging his talents to improve the services Semper Tek offers our government clients.
